Josephine Goddard is a 27 year old British artist living and working in Wiltshire. She received her formal training and subsequently taught at Charles H Cecil Studios, Florence then graduated from City and Guilds of London Art School MA degree with a distinction. Her paintings are reminiscent of old masters such as Velazquez and Sargent who’s techniques she studied during her classical tuition.
Josephine is interested in paradoxes; The Sublime and The Ugly, the classical and contemporary, dead and alive, light and dark. What happens in between? Can we draw them together somehow? She is currently making a new body of work that makes these enquiries in paint. Along side her own work, she is also taking portrait commissions.
